A Halal Food Test Event organized by MAIGOC took place at the Hotel Royal Macau yesterday (23 September), inviting media and MAIGOC staff to participate in the testing of more than 13 different specialties, with introduction of the food to the participants by Mr Cherma, Director of the supplying company. Operation check lists were also given out to the participants by MAIGOC, asking the opinion on the variety and quality of the food, the environment of the restaurant, and hygiene as references for the caterer. The company will be in charge of organizing and production of the Halal Food for immediate distribution to 14 venues during the Games.
Over 20 countries in Asia are resided with Islamic communities. Aside from pork which is prohibited in the Halal Food culture, it is nevertheless a delicacy with strong traditional background and unique specialty. The test event has provided the media and MAIGOC staff with an insight of the Islamic custom through the introduction, the participants opinions were also gathered for enhancement in the Halal Food catering service during the Games. In providing services tending to and respecting the different cultures and religions, MAIGOC looks forward that all Games participants will make Macao a home away from home.
